Ceremonies > Marriage Ceremony

A marriage ceremony may take one of many forms—or a combination of them. There is no limit to the form or content. If you wish to include or exclude a religious content, this can be done. You may select traditional vows, modify prewritten vows or actually develop a wedding ceremony to suit your personal situation and desires.

The basic content of a wedding ceremony is somewhat universal although it may be enhanced and the sequence of sections modified from ceremony to ceremony. Here are some of the major elements:

The Greeting
The Declaration of Intentions (Wedding Vows)
The Exchange of Rings
Music and Readings, and
The Pronouncement

Additions may include:

The 'Unity Candles' portion which is designed to visualize and portray the union of two into one - the individuals, their families and friends;
The 'Rose Ceremony' in which the exchange of roses symbolizes the ongoing exchange of feelings and respect as well as forming the foundation for future resolution of mis-understandings;
Readings of favorite passages / poems by family / friends;
Performance of selected musical elements of significance to the couple;
If there be children of one or both of the couple, participation of the children in selected portions of the ceremony.

At the completion of the ceremony the Bride, Groom and two witnesses will be required to sign the Marriage Register plus the Marriage License and Certificate. You will be presented with your Marriage Certificate, Keepsake Folio and a complimentary audiotape copy of your marriage ceremony.
